Leicester vs Newcastle match preview

A win for Newcastle would mean they could only be relegated on goal difference if one of West Brom or Fulham was to win all their remaining games. Leicester are in 3rd and 5 points clear of 5th placed West Ham. Leicester have a pretty tough last 3 games and they play Man United, Chelsea and Spurs, so dropping points here would add a great amount of pressure to an already tricky run in, it’s also worth remembering this is pretty much the exact same Leicester squad that saw Champions League qualification slip away from them late last season, and they will be desperate to avoid that happening in back to back seasons.

Leicester have scored in 19 of their last 21 league games and they average 1.76 goals per game in those games. Leicester have conceded in 9 of their last 11 league games and they conceded an average of 1.27 goals per game in those 11 games. Newcastle have scored in 4 of their last 5 league games and they scored an average of 1.60 goals per game in those 5 games. Newcastle have conceded in 12 of their last 12 league games and they conceded an average of 1.69 goals per game in those games.

Goals look a good bet. Leicester have been consistently scoring all season and Newcastle have picked up in recent games. Neither side has convinced defensively in recent games which should lead to chances for both sides. Over 1.5 goals is very strong with both teams to score also looking a good bet. There is also a good chance that Leicester could win this game with both teams scoring.

Newcastle have taken exactly 3 corners in each of their last 4 league games and they only average 3.41 corners per game in their last 12 league games, so Newcastle don’t look a team to rely on to heavily when it comes to corners. Leicester average 7.12 corners per game in their last 8 league games and Leicester have taken 6 corners or more in 8 of their last 10 league games. With total match corners if you backed 8/9+ match corners there is a good chance Leicester could do most the work on their own. It looks highly likely Leicester take the most corners and that Leicester will take at least 5/6+ corners.

Leicester have been given no cards in any of their last 3 league games. Newcastle are better and average 1.37 yellow cards per game in their last 8 league games, but we wouldn’t trust Newcastle to cover a bet on their own should Leicester pick up no cards.

The best bets in this game are

Over 1.5 goals

Both teams to score

Leicester to win and both teams to score

8/9+ match corners

Leicester to take 5/6+ corners
