Burnley vs Arsenal match preview

Burnley have drawn 4, won 1 and lost 1 of their last 6 games and Arsenal have won 2 and lost 3 of their last 5 games. When the sides met earlier this season it ended 1-0 to Burnley with 13 Arsenal corners, 4 Burnley corners, 2 Arsenal yellow cards, 1 Burnley yellow card and 1 Arsenal red card. Both teams have been very up and down with goals lately. Burnley have failed to score in 4 of their last 8 but they have put 3 past Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in relatively recent games,  Burnley have also kept 2 clean sheets in their last 5 games. Arsenal have failed to score in 3 of their last 6 games, though they have scored 4 goals against Leeds and 3 goals against Leicester both in their last 3 games, either side of being kept goalless by Man City. Games with Burnley can usually be hard to predict in terms of goals but given the inconsistencies both teams have shown lately we feel it is worth avoiding goals all together. Arsenal have had 4 or more corners in 11 of their last 12 games and they had exactly 7 corners in 5 of those games. Burnley have been pretty consistent in terms of corners this year though it is worth noting in games like this when they tend to play very much in the back foot (even more than usual) they have had a low corner count. We saw this happen in recent games against Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City where they had 0,2 and 1 corner respectively. Arsenals opponents have been given at least 2 cards in all of their last 6 games and Arsenal themselves have been given at least 1 card in 6 of their last 7 games and they were given 4 or more cards in 4 of those games. The issue with bookings is that Burnley have been given no cards in either of their last 2 games but they have been given 2 or more cards in 3 of their last 7 games, so if you look at the slightly longer term history bookings does not look a bad bet. So a game that Arsenal will be expected to win though Burnley should not be underestimated as they have shown in back to back wins vs Liverpool and Aston Villa, as well as when they beat Arsenal earlier in the season. Number of goals and both teams to score are very risky bets and worth avoiding. Corners is not a bad bet though we recommend  total match corners rather than both teams to have a certain number, this is due to Burnley having a tendency of ending up with a below average corner count when they play a top 6 side. Burnley having no cards in their last 2 games adds some doubt to bookings and that leaves us with no clear standout bet.

Sheffield United vs Southampton match preview

Sheffield United won last time out after  4 straight defeats and Southampton have drawn 1 and lost 7 of their last 8 games. The first meeting between the sides earlier this season ended 3-0 to Southampton with 8 Southampton corners, 4 Sheffield United corners and 1 Sheffield United yellow card. Every game is must win now for Sheffield United but they will fancy their chances against a Southampton side who are in horrible form. A 1-1 draw against Chelsea is the only positive result in the last 8 games for the Saints who have conceded 24 goals in their last 8 games. Goals and the result look too risky to back with confidence. Southampton have failed to score in 4 of their last 8 whilst Sheffield United have failed to score in 3 of their last 4 games. Corners looks a bet to avoid as well as  neither side are on the higher end of the averages and this could be a tight and tense game which could lead to a lower number of corners. Southampton have been given 17 yellow cards in their last 10 games and were given 2 or more cards in 5 of those games. Sheffield United have been given at least 1 card in 17 of their last 18 games and they were given 2 or more cards in 12 of those games. So the standout bet here is bookings as it is highly likely both teams see at least 1 player booked and the game will have at least 3 yellows.

Aston Villa vs Wolves

Aston Villa stats and averages

Goals scored – 1.52 goals per game

Goals conceded – 1.08 goals per game

Corners for them – 6.08 per game

Corners for their opponents – 5 per game

Aston Villa vs Wolves match preview

Both sides have won 2, lost 2 and drawn 1 of their last 5 games. When they met earlier this season Villa won 1-0  with 5 Wolves corners, 8 Villa corners, 2 Wolves yellow cards, 5 Villa yellow cards and a red card for each team. Villa average just 0.91 goals per game in their last 12 games and have kept 9 clean sheets in their last 16 games. Wolves average just 0.87 goals per game in their last 8 games. Goals and the result look very risky and that is before you even consider the fact that this is a Derby. The stats and the fact that this game looks like it could be a classic hard fought derby which is decided by 1 moment of skill or a mistake means we believe the result and goals just cannot be backed. The standout bet in this game is for 3+ corners each team and 10+ booking points each team. Wolves average over 6 corners a game in their last 14 games and have given away an average of 5.87 corners per game in their last 8 games. Villa average over 6 corners a game in the 25 league games they have played this year and giveaway an average of 5 corners per game in those 25 games. Villa have actually finished with no cards in 5 of their last 11 games, but have still averaged over a card per game in those 11 games and Villa’s opponents have been given at least 1 card in 17 of their last 18 games. Wolves have been given at least 1 card in 19 of their last 20 games and despite the fact that Wolves opponents have e finished with no cards in  2 of their last 3 games, their opponents have had at least 1 card in 16 of their last 18 games. So the best bet here is 3+ corners each team and 10+ booking points each team.

Brighton vs Leicester match preview

Brighton have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their last 6 games and Leicester have won 4, lost 1 and drawn 1 of their last 6 games. When the sides met for the first time earlier in the season Leicester won 3-0 with 9 Leicester corners, 5 Brighton corners, 2 Leicester yellow cards and 1 Brighton yellow card. Leicester have scored in 13 of their last 14 games and they have scored 2 or more goals in 8 of those 14 games. Brighton have failed to score in 4 of their last 9 games and average just 0.55 goals per game in those 9 games. Brighton have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 8 games. Goals looks risky as there are major doubts about will Brighton score a goal, so any bet on a total number of goals looks like it will be heavily reliant on Leicester but they have only scored more than 2 goals in 1 of their last 14 games. We do think this is a game that Leicester will win, but Brighton will be dangerous if they rediscover the form that saw them record 1-0 wins against Leeds, Spurs and Liverpool just a matter of weeks ago. Leicester are inconsistent with the number of corners they have been getting lately, in their last 6 games they have ended with 8 corners twice and just 2 corners in the other 4 games. Brighton average 7.85 corners per game in their last 7 games and they have finished with 9 corners or more in 4 of those games. Even though Leicester are inconsistent they can usually be relied on to pitch in with at least a few corners even on a slow day, so if Leicester are having one of their big corner days then this game could see a very high corner count. We believe total match corners is the smart play as both of these teams have proved recently that they can cover a corner count of 8 or above on their own. Leicester are pretty consistent with cards and have seen at least 1 card in 16 of their last 17 games. Brighton have finished with no cards in 3 of their last 5 games, but they have been given 2 or more cards in 4 of their last 7 games. Brighton opponents have finished with no bookings in their last 2 games. So the standout bet here is corners with it highly likely that the game will be pushing towards a double figure corner count.
