Southampton vs Brighton match preview

Southampton have lost 9 of their last 11 games winning 1 and drawing 1 whilst Brighton have lost their last 3 games after going 6 games unbeaten before that. The reverse fixture ended 2-1 to Southampton with 4 Brighton corners, 3 Southampton corners and 3 yellow cards for each team. Southampton have failed to score in 4 of their last 9 but have scored 4 goals in their last 2 games, putting 2 past Sheffield United and Man City last time out. The issue for Southampton has been conceded goals, as they have conceded 30 goals in their last 11 games (an average of 2.72 goals per game). After a run that saw them beat Spurs at home, and win away at Liverpool and Leeds, Brighton will be disappointed with their last 3 defeats against Crystal Palace, West Brom and Leicester. Though that sums Brighton up this season as at time they have looked a good side but they lack consistency and now see themselves in a scrap for their Premier League lives. Goals and the result look risky as both teams are very inconsistent. Brighton have been racking up the corners of late and actually average 7.62 corners a game in their last 8 games. Southampton average 5 corners a game in their last 11 games so corners looks a good bet with it highly likely that both teams see at least 3 corners and the game could be pushing towards double figures. Southampton did not get any bookings in their last game vs Man City but that was the first time in 12 games that they did not receive any cards, and it’s not uncommon for teams to not pick up cards against Man City as they are forced to sit deep and defend close to their own goal that all the attacks happen in front of them so there is no need to commit professional fouls which lead to cards. With that being said Brighton have failed to have any cards in 4 of their last 6 games so we do think bookings is an angle to leave in this game. So the best bet looks to be both teams to have at least 3 corners.

Leicester vs Sheffield United match preview

Leicester have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 1 of their last 7 games whilst Sheffield United have lost 5 and won 1 of their last 6 games. When the sides met earlier in the season it ended 2-1 to Leicester with 6 Sheffield United corners, 5 Leicester corners, 1 Sheffield United yellow card and 3 Leicester yellow cards. The most obvious bets will be based around Leicester winning the game or Leicester scoring goals. We expect Leicester to win though Sheffield United have conceded at least 2 goals in 4 of their last 6 games and Leicester have scored at least 2 goals in 4 of their last 7 games so Leicester to score 2 or more goals also looks a good bet. Corners is risky as both teams have been very up and down lately with a high corner count one game then they will just have 2 corners in their next game, for that reason we think corners is worth avoiding. Cards looks a good bet as Leicester have had at least 1 card in all of their last 11 games and Sheffield United have had at least 1 card in 18 of their last 19 games, and average 2.21 cards a game in those 19 games. So the best bets here will be Leicester to win or Leicester to score at least 2 goals, and booking points as it is highly likely both teams see at least 1 player booked and the game will see at least 3 cards in total.

Arsenal vs Tottenham match preview

Arsenal have lost 3, won 2 and drawn 1 of their last 6 games. Spurs have now won their last 3 in a row after a run which saw them lose 5 out of 6 games before that. The reverse fixture ended 2-0 to Spurs with 3 Spurs corners, 9 Arsenal corners, 1 Spurs yellow card and 2 Arsenal yellow cards. Spurs have been impressive in their last 3 games scoring 9 goals but it is worth remembering those games were against Burnley, Fulham and Crystal Palace. Arsenal have also looked good in recent wins against Leeds and Leicester, though recent losses to Wolves, Aston Villa and Man City show that the inconsistency that has frustrated Arsenal fans for a long while now is still there. Arsenal have scored 8 in their last 4 and Spurs have scored 9 in their last 4, so goals do look likely as both teams have been scoring lately. Arsenal have conceded at least 1 goal in all of their last 6 games and even though Spurs have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 6 games those clean sheets came against West Brom, Burnley and Fulham who are hardly prolific goal scorers. Corners is a bet to avoid as in recent games both teams have been very low. Spurs have had just 5 corners in their last 3 games and whilst Arsenal have been better than that they have had 4 corners or less in 3 of their last 4 games which isn’t going to cover a bet if Spurs are on the low end like they have been lately. Arsenal have had at least 1 card in 7 of their last 8 games and Arsenals opponents have been given 17 yellow cards in their last 8 games (an average of 2.12 yellow cards per game). Spurs have been given at least 1 card in 8 of their last 9 games and have been given 2 or more cards in 4 of their last 7 games. Spurs opponents have been given 32 cards in their last 14 games (an average of 2.28 yellow cards per game) so it looks likely that both teams could see at least 2 cards each and the game could be pushing towards 50+ booking points. Thought it is worth remembering with a Derby like this referees can sometimes let what would normally be a booking go as they don’t want to risk the game deteriorating into a stop start game with constant cards for both team.

Man United vs West Ham match preview

Man United are now unbeaten in 8 though they have drawn 5 of those. West Ham have won 3 of their last 4 with the other game being a loss away at Man City. The reverse fixture was won 3-1 by Man United with 5 West Ham corners, 4 Man United corners and no yellow cards for either team. West Ham have scored 19 goals in their last 11 games (an average of 1.72 per game) and Man United have scored 18 goals in their last 7 games (an average of 2.57 per game) and even though the 9 they put past Southampton played a big part in that total Man United have also put 3 past Everton and Newcastle and 2 past Man City last time out. So goals look likely though it is worth noting West Ham have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 5 games and United have kept 3 clean sheets in a row, so whilst the attacking fire power of both sides should see goals, it is probably not a game where you want to push the line too high on what you need to cover your bet. Man United average 5.50 corners a game in their last 10 games and they had at least 4 corners in all of those games except for the last one against Man City where they had 2 corners, though it is very common for teams to have a lower corner count than usual against Man City as they play long periods of the game without possession or territory. West Ham have had at least 3 corners in 19 out of their last 20 games and the only game they didn’t reach 3 corners was against Man City, which for the same reasons stated above we are happy to ignore. So it looks very likely both teams will have at least 3 corners. West Ham have been given at least 1 card in 6 of their last 7 games and average 1.71 yellows per game in those 7 games. Man United have been given at least 1 card in 16 of their last 18 games and average 1.55 yellow cards a  game in those 18 games. This is a game where we believe all angles can be covered as long as you don’t push the totals too high. Any bet that is based around 2 or more goals, 3+ corners for each team and 10+ booking points for each team looks to have a great chance.
